From Mammoth to Jeans

On climate and the power of nature

"From Mammoth to Jeans, on Climate and the Power of Nature" is an exhibition for Museum Terra Maris dedicated to the challenges we face today: changing climate and with it a changing world.

The exhibition is designed as a row of dominoes as a metaphor for the effect human actions have on the planet. At one end, the stones begin to fall. As a visitor, you may push these stones back upright yourself: if we act now, our impact on the climate can still be contained. But once the stones begin to fall, it causes a chain reaction with consequences we cannot foresee.

Doors from a local thrift store were used for the design, and processed with as little glue as possible, allowing the wood to be reused afterwards. Display cases, lighting, screens and buttons were reused from Terra Maris' previous exhibition. The texts were printed with organic ink on recycled paper, and recycled felt was used for the panels. The hands-on exhibits, display cases and graphics are designed to be easily updated by the museum itself.

The exhibition continues in Terra Maris' landscape garden where you can explore the forces of nature - sun, water, tide and wind - in playful interactive exhibits.
